School & District Leaders, Instructional Coaches, Interventionists, Curriculum Coordinators, and Teachers (k-12)
Learning Targets
- Define scaffolding with clarity – Explain what scaffolding is (and is not), using research-based guidance from the text "How Scaffolding Works".
- Identify scaffolds in HQIRs – Locate explicit and embedded scaffolds in your HQIR instructional materials.
- Analyze scaffolding effectiveness – Differentiate between scaffolds that promote productive struggle and over-scaffolding that reduces rigor.
- Plan for scaffold use – Develop strategies to apply scaffolds, or coach others in doing so, intentionally in upcoming lessons to support all learners toward independence.
